FIRST DEBATE BETWEEN SCIENTISTS AND POLITICIANS, ORGANISED BY
SOCIEDAD CIVIL POR EL DEBATE (SCD)
Madrid, 2 October 2015.- In light of the increasing “brain drain” faced by our country, the drop in public investment R&D and the considerable reduction in the number of researchers, Sociedad Civil por el Debate (SCD) organised an event in Madrid last week which has brought scientists and representatives of all political organisations of the country ‘face to face’ to demand a “State Convention for Science”.
All the scientists who took part in this debate agreed to demand more investment in R&D, consensus and dialogue, as well as the inclusion in the upcoming electoral programmes of “specific and credible commitments and figures” to save Spanish science from the cutbacks and put an end to this compulsory exodus of talent.
The full debate, which was held in the Fundación Diario Madrid, was broadcast live via indagando.tv and was moderated by Manuel Campo Vidal.
