MILESTONES OF PRESIDENT OBAMA'S
VISIT TO SPAIN

Madrid, July 2016.-

Antonio Camuñas was once again a guest on the TV show El Cascabel, of 13 TV, to continue to speak about the double aspect of President Obama’s visit to our country: a courtesy visit and one of strategic importance for the United States.

During his intervention, the Chairman of Global Strategies began by underlining that the trip was on the brink of having been cancelled due to the serious incidents that happened in Dallas, so the fact that it took place is seen as a substantial success.

Likewise, he mentioned that despite the tight schedule of the visit, the President’s stay achieved the intended goals, with a visit which underscored the new climate of bilateral relations, having met with the King and various political leaders during this period of formation of the new government, and having reinforced the military commitment of the US with Europe, focused in the Air Bases of Morón and Rota, key locations for the defence strategy of the Atlantic Alliance amid the unstable scenario that has come about in Africa and the Near East following the so-called “Arab Spring”.
